PA parks named 'Best in Nation'
May 30, 2010Pennsylvania has been named best in the nation for state parks and the honor was celebrated earlier this month at Ohiopyle State Park.
The 117-state-park system in Pennsylvania was awarded the top honor by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association.
The award honors the Bureau of State Parks for skills in planning for and managing the park system and for its innovative approaches that have drawn people into the parks.
Pennsylvania will carry the "Best in Nation" title until the next medal is awarded in 2011.
